Who We Are
Joanne Yulan Jong is a rare combination of creativity and practicality and has worked as a designer, growing fashion brands for over 20 years and a creative mind that likes to work both on the vision of a brand but also the business.
She began designing at an early age and apprenticed herself to couture designers in London and Paris, where she was able to watch and learn from their creativity and absorb the intricate skills and precise handwork of the ateliers, their dedication and unwavering work ethic.
Having completed her first degree in her hometown of Edinburgh she then graduated with a Masters from the Royal College of Art, London and headed onwards to Milan to start her career in luxury fashion design.
In 1996 she joined Giorgio Armani as Design Director of Womenswear, ‘Le Collezioni’. Working closely with Armani and sole designer of the collection, her broad brief included design, brand supervision and overall responsibility for ad campaigns.
In 1999 Joanne created and launched her own signature label Yulan and, concurrently, established her consultancy studio whose client list includes Missoni, Cantarelli, Maska and Exte. Joanne subsequently returned to London where she continued to grow her reputation and global client list as well as attracting British brands names such as Daks Simpson, The Austin Reed Group, The White Company, Liberty, ME+EM and Petit Tribe.
Joanne, together with her handpicked design team, bases their design principles on strong concept, research, fabric expertise, cutting-edge embellishment and print; beautiful fit and meticulous attention to detail. They base their success on equally meticulous client service.
